Our Story
Origins
In 2018, fueled by a passion and love for games, father and son duo Stephen and Anthony founded Nequinox. With over 25 years in the industry, Stephen left Sumo to build something new alongside Anthony, an avid gamer and coder with big ambitions. Their journey began with a contract on Crackdown 3, leading them to collaborate with other independent studios, providing the extra talent and expertise needed to bring great games to life—all while having fun doing it!
2018 - 2020
As Nequinox grew, We moved into our own office space, a dedicated hub that marked the start of our progress into a full-scale development studio. During this period, our team expanded to 12 talented developers, and we had the privilege of working on incredible titles with amazing partners. From Burnout Paradise Remastered for Switch to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, we contributed to major projects.
2020 - 2022
The world changed, and so did we. The pandemic forced us to evolve rapidly, shifting to a fully remote studio before later transitioning into a hybrid model. Despite the challenges, Nequinox grew from 12 to 30 team members across Art, Design, Programming, and Production. A major milestone came with Ian Deary joining as Creative Director, bringing leadership from LittleBigPlanet 3 and Sackboy. His expertise strengthened our Art & Design teams, pushing us closer to creating our own games and boosting our services to client. During this period, we also collaborated with major independent studios on exciting, unannounced projects.
2022 - 2024
Nequinox continued to grow, Developing our in house tool sets (NFusion Core) taking on exciting new projects and expanding our presence in the industry. We helped co-develop with Sumo Digital on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game and worked with a weaseltron to help remaster Horizon Zero Dawn! alongside several unannounced projects and prototypes. We also had our first appearance at GDC as Nequinox, supported by the UK Department of International Trade to forge new connections and showcase our expertise.
2024 - Now
Nequinox continues to push forward after a tough year in the games industry, We worked with Shrapnel on their upcoming extraction FPS and co-developed Undisputed with Steel City Interactive, further proving our expertise in high-quality game development. A proud moment came when we were nominated and shortlisted for Co-Developer of the Year at MCV/Develop, recognizing our contributions to the industry. We have also begun work on our own game, Trap Runners a major step toward realising our vision of creating fun, high-quality gaming experiences.
